Join us as a Health, Safety, and Environment Student Internfor our Hawaii district, within our US Buildings sector for three to four months starting May 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a Health, Safety, and Environment Student Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:
Responsibilities
  • Gathers/reviews/distributes safety-related statistical information.
  • Monitors site-specific programs/requirements/compliance.
  • Recognizes and follows PCL and local legislative requirements.
  • Anticipates questions based on experience, knowledge, and understanding of client needs.
  • Conceptually visualizes a completed project or project component (e.g., generator installation process).
  • Recognizes behaviors, conditions, and activities that can adversely affect health.
  • Interprets simple work sequences.
  • Liaises effectively with project and field management.
  • Applies basic knowledge of behavioral concepts.
  • Interprets, communicates, and reinforces project safety standards to workforce.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Working toward Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related area of study.
  • A desire to pursue a career as a HSE professional.
  • 18 years of age or older and possesses a valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of applicable OH&S, environmental legislation and HSE processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn construction processes and terminology.
  • A strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
  • Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis and climb ladders and stairs.
  • Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment.
  • Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a background check, a physical, and a substance abuse test each conducted by a third party.
