Positional Overview
 
The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Housing Construction Specialist on behalf of our client, a leading nonprofit organization in Buffalo, NY focused on community development. This agency provides housing services, financial counseling, and assistance programs to support individuals and families in achieving stable, affordable housing. It works closely with local partners to address housing needs, promote financial empowerment, and strengthen neighborhoods. The organization is committed to accessibility, advocacy, and improving quality of life across the community.
 
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting residential construction and rehabilitation projects to ensure quality, compliance, and timely completion. You will coordinate with contractors, conduct site inspections, and monitor project progress while ensuring adherence to budgets, safety standards, and housing regulations. This position requires strong project management skills, knowledge of construction practices, and a commitment to improving affordable housing within the community.
 
 
Role & Responsibility:
Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success
 
  • Oversee residential construction and rehabilitation projects from planning through completion, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, identify issues, and ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations. 
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage schedules, materials, and project workflows.
  • Review project plans, scopes of work, and budgets to ensure accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Track project milestones and maintain detailed documentation, reports, and compliance records. 
  • Troubleshoot construction challenges and implement effective solutions to keep projects on track. 
  • Support efforts to enhance affordable housing initiatives by ensuring projects meet community needs and organizational goals.
 
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 2 years experiences OR associate’s degree + 4 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in housing construction, rehabilitation, or related fields. 
  • Basic knowledge of all phases of residential housing building systems (structural, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Ability to supervise contractors. 
  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • Reliable transportation and adequate insurance coverage
