Job Summary

The Faith Community Health Program of Baylor Scott & White Health seeks to empower local faith communities to foster health and wellness by bridging the gap between healthcare and local congregations.  

FCH seeks to empower BSW customers to reach optimal health by integrating faith communities with health care to provide more effective patient navigation, education, and social support, with the goal of creating healthier communities. We operate by partnering volunteers from faith communities and universities to meet the non-medical needs of BSW discharged patients through a ministry of presence, keeping health top of mind, and social support.  

Essential Functions of the FCH Manager role:

  • Oversees the FCH program and ensures outcomes; innovatively shifts the strategy for greatest impact and long-range program sustainability.
  • Conducts quality improvement, fundraising, and grant-writing.
  • Oversees system staff, creates and maintains a positive and collaborative culture; collaborates with system community outreach efforts, and engages with multiple communication venues to advance the visibility of FCH.  
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with faith leaders to leverage faith communities to help improve health outcomes in the community.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with university leaders to leverage university volunteerism to improve health outcomes in the community.
  • Explores and integrates the ways faith can positively influence health outcomes and community wellbeing.
  • Explores how spiritual practices intersect with public and community health and integrates learnings into the strategy and operations.

  • Knowledge of the methods and methods of pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Ability to purposefully participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with co-workers, health professionals, volunteers, community clergy and the general public.
  • Ability to understand psycho-social dynamics and cultural/ethnic differences and their effect on pastoral practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with organizational leadership and develop peer relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Masters'
  • EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience
    • Preferably in community outreach, fundraising, or working with faith leaders
