POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Investment Coordinator serves as a keeper ofstories for The Link, advancing fund development and communications in waysthat uplift the children, youth, and families we serve. Grounded in a FirstNations worldview that understands story as relationship, responsibility, andrenewal, this position cultivates the resources, partnerships, and publicunderstanding required to sustain prevention, healing, and belonging across thecontinuum of service.

POSITION SCOPE/IMPACT OF ERROR

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CommunityInvestment Coordinator works closely with leadership, program teams, the YouthCouncil, Elders and Knowledge Carriers, families, donors, funders, andcommunity partners. The position leads donor cultivation, grants, sponsorships,and signature campaigns, and stewards the gathering, holding, and respectfulsharing of stories across fundraising and communications channels. Errors inthis position may affect donor trust, revenue stability, public understandingof The Link's direction, and the dignity of those whose experiences are shared.Sound judgment, cultural humility, and discretion are essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Keeper of Stories

      Gather, hold, and share the stories of children, youth,families, Elders, and staff with consent, cultural protocol, and dignity.

      Work alongside the Youth Council, program teams,Knowledge Carriers, and families to listen for the teachings within livedexperience and translate them into communications that strengthen identity,belonging, and public understanding.

      Apply trauma-informed, reciprocal storytelling practice- returning stories to those they belong to and honoring people rather thanrepresenting them.

      Maintain records of consent, cultural review, and storylifecycle across donor, funder, community, and public-facing materials.

Fund Development

      Develop, deliver, and evaluate an annual funddevelopment plan aligned with the organization's direction and long-termsustainability goals.

      Lead individual giving, monthly giving, major gifts,planned giving, corporate sponsorships, third-party events, and signaturecampaigns.

      Research, write, and submit proposals to foundations,government funders, and granting bodies, with an emphasis on diversified,multi-year funding that sustains prevention, healing, and post-care.

      Cultivate and steward long-term relationships withdonors, sponsors, and funders as partners in the work, grounded in reciprocityand transparency.

Communications

      Steward The Link's evolving identity - ensuringconsistent voice, language, and visuals across partnerships, fundingsubmissions, and public materials that reflect its direction as a Nation-ledorganization.

      Develop and publish donor appeals, newsletters, impactreports, annual reports, campaign collateral, and stewardship materials.

      Coordinate media relations, public statements, andannouncements in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer.

      Support internal communications, includingorganization-wide updates, change communications, and staff engagementmaterials in partnership with Leadership.

Community Relations and Partnership

      Strengthen reciprocal relationships with First Nationsleadership, Indigenous organizations, Metis and Inuit partners, communitygroups, service clubs, and corporate partners.

      Support Nation-to-Nation engagement, community forums,ceremonial gatherings, and partner activities in ways that reflect culturalprotocols.

      Represent The Link at community gatherings, donormeetings, and fundraising events as an ambassador of its mission and identity.

      Engage in ongoing learning with Elders, KnowledgeCarriers, and the land-based team, integrating teachings into the practice offund development, storytelling, and communications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

      Post-secondary education in fund development,communications, marketing, public relations, non-profit management, Indigenousstudies, or a related discipline.

      Equivalent combinations of education andlived/professional experience will be considered.

      Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, orprogress toward CFRE, is considered an asset.

Experience

      Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in funddevelopment, communications, donor relations, grant writing, or communityengagement.

      Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, campaigndelivery, grant writing, and content development across digital and printchannels.

      Experience developing storytelling and communicationscontent with children, youth, and families using trauma-informed,consent-based, and culturally safe approaches.

      The ability to speak a First Nations language is adefinite asset.

      Experience working within a non-profit,community-based, or Indigenous-led organization.

      Experience working with or alongside First Nationscommunities, youth, families, Elders, or Knowledge Carriers is a strong asset.
