Job Overviewย 

This position reports to the Community Impact Manager. The Community Development Specialist is a catalyst for positive change. Their mission is cultivating trust, building relationships, and empowering our community.ย This role will focus on executing the credit union's community development strategies, fostering partnerships with community organizations, implementing financial empowerment and counseling programs, and promoting CDFI-centered initiatives.ย

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, marketing, communications, social work, education, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of financial services or community outreach/development experience.ย 
  • Extensive knowledge of community development or financial education strategies and tactics.ย 
  • Bilingual โ€“ English and Spanish
  • Event planning and promoting.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.

Role Description and Essential Duties

    • Lead engaging financial education programs, from seminars to workshops, utilizing our cutting-edge financial education software. Tailoring each of these to different audiences.
    • Serve as a financial counselor, supporting credit union members and the broader community through formalized programs.
    • Plan and participate in community development events, recruiting and retaining volunteers for impactful projects.
    • Communicate results of community development efforts to management and create periodic community impact reports.
    • Create quarterly community impact reports to send to our community.
    • Lead Scholarship Program.
    • Lead Community Youth Advisory Group.
    • Creating and maintaining programs that effectively reflect the credit unionโ€™s vision of stimulating community development.
    • Establish strong relationships with community organizations, reviewing requests for support and providing feedback reports to credit union management.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with departments and management, ensuring company policy and procedure adherence.
    • Attending community meetings as required, representing the credit union professionally and enthusiastically.
    • Assist the marketing department in events and special functions as needed.
    • Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations in addition to the Credit Union's Customer Identification Program (CIP) and attends required annual BSA training.
    • Assist with all other duties as assigned or identified.
