Entry level, unlicensed civil engineers build their professional knowledge through developing technical deliverables, attending meetings, and visiting project sites, as well as involvement with professional organizations.

While working under the direct supervision of a more senior level engineer, you will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of engineering through projects and challenges.
  • Get exposure to best practice methods with calculations and other necessary skills.
  • Build your knowledge of the rules and regulations that apply to a variety of project types.
  • Work with CAD, GIS, Office tools and specialty software.
  • Visit work sites during design and construction phases see projects come to life.
  • See the materials, means, and methods contractors use to build infrastructure we design.
  • Enhance your time management, organization, communication, and team building skills.
  • Develop lifelong writing and research skills through reports, permit applications, etc.
  • Learn how to identify tasks needed to complete an assignment.
  • Understand how we collaborate with clients to improve the communities we serve.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Interest in obtaining EIT and PE licensure.
  • Responsible, ability to take directions and complete tasks or projects.
