Role Overview
A college student who would like to learn about how a recovery community organization (RCO)operatesand support its operations through providing fundraisingand officesupport.This role includes a variety of tasks including networking on behalf of RICARES, internal support for fundraising, prospectresearchand database management, as well as event planning.This person collaborates with the Senior Manager of Community Relations and the Communications Manager totell stories about RICARES and Rhode Island recovery communities as well as help plan and execute two fundraising events.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Management and Prospect Research
- Serve as a member of the bi-weekly Development Committee Meetings.
- Perform an environmental scan of RI and national non-profits in recovery to discern their fundraising protocols.
- Research individual and family prospects and update database withimportant information.
- Reach out to local businesses and corporations to understand their community interests and capacity.
Event Support and Community Relations
- Provide support for ourupcoming fundraising andcivic engagement events.
- Implement communications strategy to help increase attendance and get word out.
- Participate in Rally4Recovery Planning meetings and complete assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Student or recent graduate at a college or University
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with ability to relate to diverse populations
- Previouscustomer service, hospitality, or peer support experience
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards
- Ability tomaintainprofessional boundaries while showing empathy and understanding
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods andlift upto 25 pounds
- Reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical peer support practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal experience with substanceusedisorder recovery and/or other mental health recoveryor a major in public health, psychology, orotherrelevantsubject.
- Knowledge of local recovery resourcesand/or community/businesses in RI.
- Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Physical Requirements and Availability
- This position is in person at 166 Valley Street, suite 105, Providence, RI
- Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Schedule may include evening and weekend hours to supportspecial events, programs, and organizational needs
This position runsapproximately June 1-August 31is12-16hours per weekand pays $18 per hour.
