Job description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP - Midsize Groups
Christ Community Church // Omaha NE
This person has a heart for creating and overseeing ministry for and by those living in the third-third (60+) of life. This will include empowering them to grow in their faith and use their gifts and skills to invest in the discipleship of younger generations as well as their own generation. In addition, this person will partner in the overall adult ministry strategy of discipleship, supporting high standards of pastoral care among other team members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry to the Third-Third (60+) of Life (90%)
  • Develop discipleship opportunities for the aging population
    • Phase 3 learning events
    • Affinity groups
    • Aging Adult discipleship environments and groups
  • Intergenerational Ministry development
    • Discipleship Conversations
    • Volunteers for other generational ministry areas
    • Service opportunities to local and foreign mission opportunities
    • Stephen Ministry Team

Partner with Adult Ministries Team (10%)
  • Develop strategies for effective ministry with the aging population.
  • Hospital visits, Funerals, Weddings, On-Call
  • Weekly Connections with new people
  • Teaching and equipping leaders
    • Develop content and teach in classes, training venues, and mid-size groups
    • Provide leadership for Community Group leaders and members, cooperatively identifying and promoting healthy discipleship aging adults.
  • Staff meetings and team meetings

SKILLS & BACKGROUND
  • Experience at developing leaders and systems of pastoral care
  • A passion to engage and disciple aging adults through relevant teaching, effective evangelism, and authentic group environments where they thrive and connect in community.
  • A warm and caring person who loves to engage those they don't know and connect deeply with people they do know, all with the ultimate goal of making disciples.
  • The ability to work on a team and collaborate with others.
  • Humility, Godly character, and a commitment to the classic disciplines of the Christian faith.
  • A doctrinal alignment with the core beliefs of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (https://cmalliance.org/who-we-are/what-we-believe/)
  • Bachelor's degree desired but not required.
  • Currently (or able to be) licensed and ordained/consecrated in the Christian and Missionary Alliance (preferred)

TYPE OF POSITION
  • Part-time salaried role (20-28 hours/week)
  • Schedule can vary but would include Sunday mornings and other weekdays as ministry requires.
