About Baum's Boots & More

Baum's Boots & More is a locally owned work and western footwear and apparel retailer with stores in Richmond and Somerset, Kentucky, as well as a growing e-commerce business.

We're looking for an outgoing, creative and self-motivated Community & Content Coordinator to help us become more visible both online and throughout the communities we serve.

This is not a traditional desk marketing position. We want someone who enjoys being out in the community, meeting people, creating relationships, attending events and finding opportunities to put Baum's Boots in front of new customers. At the same time, this person will help create a steady stream of fresh, authentic social media content from our stores, employees, products, customers and community involvement.

We are looking for someone who sees opportunities and takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do next.

What You'll Do

Content & Social Media

Regularly visit both Baum's Boots locations to create fresh photo and video content.

Create short-form content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and other appropriate platforms.

Capture new products, employees, store activity, customer experiences, events and behind-the-scenes content.

Help maintain a consistent posting schedule with content that reflects what is actually happening in our stores now.

Create Reels, Stories and other engaging social content.

Help grow our social media following and engagement.

Identify trends and content ideas that fit the Baum's Boots brand and customer base.

Coordinate with our outside marketing partners when appropriate.

Track basic content performance and identify what types of content are generating the strongest response.

Community Development

Identify events, organizations, partnerships and sponsorship opportunities throughout Richmond, Somerset and surrounding communities.

Build relationships with local businesses, schools, colleges, Chambers of Commerce and community organizations.

Help coordinate Baum's Boots participation in community events, vendor events and other local opportunities.

Develop ideas for in-store events and promotions that can increase awareness and foot traffic.

Attend selected events and represent Baum's Boots in the community.

Maintain a calendar of upcoming community opportunities and proactively recommend where Baum's Boots should participate.

Follow up with contacts and turn introductions into ongoing community relationships.

Look for creative opportunities to increase awareness of both store locations.

What We're Looking For

We care more about what you can do than what degree is on your resume.

The right person will be:

Outgoing and comfortable starting conversations with people they don't know.

Creative and naturally interested in social media and content.

Comfortable taking photos and shooting/editing short-form video.

Familiar with platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Organized enough to manage multiple events, contacts and projects.

Comfortable making phone calls and reaching out to businesses and organizations.

Able to work independently without needing constant direction.

Someone who notices opportunities and follows through on them.

Available during weekday business hours when community organizations and businesses are operating.

Able and willing to regularly travel between Richmond and Somerset.

Experience with Canva, CapCut or similar content-creation tools is a plus.

Previous experience in marketing, social media, community relations, event planning, sales, hospitality, public relations or a similar customer-facing role is helpful but not required.

A college degree is not required.

What Success Looks Like

We aren't hiring someone simply to "make posts."

We want this person to help Baum's Boots become more visible.

Success in this position will include producing a consistent flow of fresh content, increasing social engagement and followers, identifying and developing community relationships, finding worthwhile events and partnerships, increasing Baum's visibility throughout our markets, and bringing new ideas to us rather than waiting for assignments.

If you're the type of person who would come to us and say, "I found five events we should consider, I've already contacted three of them, and here are four videos I shot at the store this week," you may be exactly who we're looking for.

Schedule

This position is expected to average approximately 20โ€“25 hours per week.

The schedule will have some flexibility, but regular weekday availability is important. Some evenings and weekends will occasionally be required for community events.

This is a primarily in-person position and requires regular travel between our Richmond and Somerset stores and surrounding communities.

Business-related mileage will be reimbursed.

When applying, please include links or examples of social media posts, photos, videos, Reels, TikToks or other content you have personally created. If you don't have a professional portfolio, personal examples are completely acceptable.

Flexible work from home options available.
