JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: ย  CENTER PROGRAM COORDINATOR โ€“ FIREHOUSE ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

ย 

DEFINITION: ย  Under the direction of the Center Director, the Program Coordinator develops, plans and coordinates recreation and educational programs for center participants.ย  This position encompasses the provision of a planned program of recreational, educational and cultural activities including, but not limited to, physical fitness, dancing, music, arts, and self-enrichment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Education and Experience:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  BA/BS in recreation or related field with two years of experience or Associates Degree with 6 years of experience.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prior experience conducting activities for geriatric population.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to relate to older persons

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Self- motivation and initiation.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities

DUTIES

1.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develops and maintains an exciting schedule of day-to-day recreation and educational programs.

2.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Works with program planning committee and the center advisory council to develop, implement and evaluate new programs which incorporates consumer feedback.

3.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Works with the center director in establishing annual program goals.

4.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assures that all program activities are properly recorded in the PCA client by client system.

5.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Identifies and coordinates with other organizations and community resources to enhance center programs.

6.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensures program equipment and supplies are clean and well maintained; manages inventory of program supplies.

7.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Plans special events, such as tours, trips, camping, arts & crafts, parties, celebrations and discussion groups.

8.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Oversees registration and fee collection process associated with center activities

9.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Creates and posts monthly Center Activity calendar and Center Newsletter.

10.ย ย ย  Assists with center marketing and outreach efforts.

11.ย ย ย  Provides supervision for program aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) in conjunction with the Center Director.

12.ย ย ย  Other duties as assigned.
