Position Summary:
Uses a systematic approach to maintaining the structure of the day-to-day groups and skill-building activities in the community. Assist Meaningful Day Direct Support Professionals on how to provide systematic instruction and other teaching methods that help Persons in small and/or large groups to learn skills to work in competitive integrated employment; such as, time management, strategies for completing tasks, interpersonal skills, effective communication, and how to problem-solve. Also uses methods and ways to help Persons have meaningful days in the community, training and supports designed to maintain abilities and to prevent or slow loss of skills for Persons with declining conditions. Provides Persons with opportunities to engage in community-based activities that support building social connections (capital), socialization, life-long learning, recreation, and personal development.
Position Responsibilities:
- Complete performance appraisals.
- Review, approve/deny staff timesheets, vacation and sick leave requests.
- Adequately schedules services and staffing to meet the staffing requirements of the Persons.
- Monitors and approves Person attendance daily, ensuring adequate documentation and staff time is correct to bill for the services provided.
- Partner with DSP and if needed Supportive Living DSM and staff to address any overlaps in attendance.
- Monitor documentation to ensure services provided matches billing.
- Sub in for a group if DSP is not present.
- Oversee spending.
- Coordinate transportation to and from services daily with designated meeting spots in the community to begin services. Discuss any vehicle operation issues with DSP. Manager will be responsible for reviewing speed, pick up and drop off times weekly for accurate service delivery for those supported.
- Co-lead monthly day habilitation meetings with staff.
- Attend Person Centered Planning Meetings and assist with developing goals and outcomes using person-centered practices, assisting people to make informed choices, develop strategies, take risks, follow through on responsibilities, and achieve their goals.
- In coordination with the Activities Coordinator, develop Personalized schedules with each Person
- Review staff time for accurate payment for services provided.
- Identify and partner with volunteering opportunities for hands-on skill building with Persons.
- Oversee the completion of Monthly calendars and distribute to teams of those served monthly.
- Review daily completion of medication delivery to those supported in services.
- Maintain accurate records, collecting and compiling data, and submitting records to appropriate sources in a timely fashion.
- Build trust and productive relationships with Person, coworkers, and others through respectful, clear, concise and timely communication (verbally and in writing).
- Facilitate teamwork, routine communication, and positive interactions among Persons, within department, families and other departments to ensure that Person goals are met.
- Attend meetings and webinars to stay informed of best practices and upcoming changes. Ensure center and programming continues to comply with the CMS Final Rule. Prepare, educate, and lead staff towards change to new DDA Meaningful Day Services and fee for service billing in LTSS Maryland.
- Interview and assist with recruitment and hiring of new employees, provide on-the-job training, and terminations. Complete documentation as appropriate. Submit payroll biweekly. Monitor for staff compliance with training.
- Perform Other Duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years old.
- Associate's degree is preferred (At least 3 years of field and managerial experience will be considered).
- Technical knowledge to operate a computer and smartphone to perform essential job functions.
- Supervision of Direct Care experience.
- Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Valid Maryland driver's license and daily access to an insured vehicle to travel.
- Use of personal vehicle to provide transportation to Person.
- Time management and customer service skills.
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to successfully complete all COMAR and agency required training.
