Job description

Position Summary

The Communications Associate advances the mission of Grace Fellowship Church by creating compelling, high-quality communications that inspire people to take their next step with Christ. This role is intentionally designed to be flexible. We recognize that no one person excels in every area of communications, so we are seeking individuals who bring strengths in multiple creative and technical disciplines while collaborating with others to build a well-rounded Communications team.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Collaborate with ministry leaders to communicate vision, stories, and next steps across multiple platforms. Create engaging content that reflects the mission, values, and brand of Grace Fellowship Church. Participate in planning, developing, and executing communication strategies for ministry initiatives, events, and campaigns. Produce high-quality creative assets while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Partner with staff, volunteers, and outside vendors to accomplish communication objectives. Support weekend services and special events through communication, photography, video, or other creative needs as assigned. Maintain consistency in messaging, branding, and visual identity across all communication channels.

Areas of Expertise

Candidates should demonstrate experience and proficiency in two or more of the following disciplines.

Video Production

Produce videos from concept through final delivery. Set up and operate cameras, lighting, audio, and production equipment. Edit videos for weekend services, social media, promotional campaigns, testimonies, and events. Create motion graphics or animations using Adobe After Effects or similar software (preferred).

Graphic Design

Design graphics for digital, print, environmental signage, social media, and ministry promotions. Maintain visual consistency with Grace Fellowship Church branding. Prepare artwork for both print and digital production.

Photography

Capture high-quality photography during weekend services, baptisms, ministry events, and special gatherings. Edit, organize, and maintain photography assets.

Social Media

Develop, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms. Understand platform best practices and current trends. Monitor engagement and recommend opportunities to increase reach and effectiveness.

Website and Digital Platforms

Update and maintain church websites and digital platforms. Ensure content is accurate, current, and user-friendly. Help optimize digital experiences across desktop and mobile devices.

Marketing and Communications Strategy

Assist in developing communication plans for church-wide initiatives and ministry events. Recommend communication channels, timelines, and messaging strategies. Evaluate campaign performance and suggest improvements.

Copywriting and Storytelling

Write compelling copy for websites, emails, social media, print, and promotional materials. Tell stories that celebrate life change and communicate the church's vision. Adapt messaging appropriately for different audiences and communication channels.

Mobile Apps and Text Communication

Manage content within the church mobile app. Create and schedule text messaging campaigns. Support digital engagement through mobile communication tools.

CandidateCriteria

A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Grace Fellowship Church. Experience in at least two of the communications disciplines listed above. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to receive feedback, collaborate effectively, and contribute to a creative team environment. A positive, flexible, servant-hearted attitude with strong problem-solving skills. Proficiency with creative software relevant to the candidate's areas of expertise.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Film, Journalism, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered. Two or more years of experience in communications, creative media, marketing, or a related field preferred. Experience serving in a church or other ministry environment is beneficial but not required. Demonstrated portfolio showcasing work in two or more communications disciplines is strongly preferred.

Working Hours and Conditions

Business Hours / Exceptions

This position is full time with various hours, including evenings and weekends as required by ministry needs. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required during designated all-church events, including Christmas, Easter, and Fall Launch.

Working Environment

Church office and worship environments; fast paced, team-oriented ministry setting.
Occasional lifting and transporting of ministry materials and equipment may be required.

Travel Requirements

Occasional offsite meetings and periodic travel for training, conferences, professional development, or multi/campus support may be required.

Salary

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
