Job description

Technician I - Structured Cabling | $1,500 Sign-On Bonus Location: Reno, NV
The Communications Technician I is an entry-level role on our structured cabling team. This position is ideal for candidates with zero to one year of experience in the structured cabling industry who are ready to build hands-on technical skills in a fast-growing field.
Sign-On Bonus This position includes a $1,500 sign-on bonus, paid in three installments over your first year of employment at the 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month employment milestones. Each installment is contingent upon active employment and being in good standing with the company at the time of payment. Sign-on bonus payments are treated as taxable income and subject to applicable withholdings. Overtime is available.
Responsibilities
  • Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and wall applications
  • Drop and route cable through walls and modular furniture using fish tape and other methods
  • Perform pre-termination procedures including organizing, forming, dressing, and labeling cables
  • Suspend and support cable using cable tray, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems
  • Build and outfit closets including backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and equipment grounding

Qualifications
  • Work Environment Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor construction environments, travel within branch or regional territory as needed, and work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
    Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, move up to 75 pounds, distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.

    Required Tools Screwdriver (flathead and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips with belt sheath, needle nose and channel lock pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.
    Education and Experience
      • High school diploma or GED required
      • Zero to one year of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field
      • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
      • Basic construction industry knowledge preferred
      • Must meet company minimum driving standards (preferred)
      • Must be able to use all required tools effectively
