Salary

Classification Range $16.90 - $24.00 per hour

Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $16.90 per hour

MON - FRI; 8A-5P; Occasional weekends; Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Job Summary

The Department of Human Communication Studies is a fast-paced, team environment with frequent
interruptions. We are looking for someone who can exercise sound judgment and discretion, handle multiple priorities and is organized.

Under direct supervision, student assistants will work under the direct supervision of department staff or faculty to provide support in the following areas and are not limited to:

Provides front office clerical support by answering the main phone line, greeting, and directing students and visitors

Sends and responds to general email inquiries

Updates and maintains documents, such as the faculty office directory and faculty office hour postings

Assist with on-campus event setup and take down

Create and post department flyers while maintaining bulletin boards

Maintain department conference/workroom by removing outdated flyers/items, tidying up, and keeping the spaces neat

Assist faculty with copy requests and the distribution of office supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
