Job description

Job Summary (Project Manager – State of Michigan, Lansing, MI):
- Position: Project Manager (12-month contract, fully on-site, Lansing, MI; US Citizens only)
- Interview: Face-to-face interview required; Michigan driver’s license address verification; vendor to upload candidate screenshot if interviewed
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a multi-year, high-budget ($20M+) IT modernization project within a complex, enterprise environment.
- Plan, manage, and communicate project activities to deliver projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate and facilitate collaboration among technical, business, and vendor teams, advocating for consensus and commitment.
- Use Agile/Scrum methodologies and act as a servant leader for self-managed teams.
- Monitor and communicate project progress, including cost, schedule, scope, quality, resources, and risks.
- Maintain clear, timely, and accurate communications with all stakeholders, including project teams, steering committee, and management.
- Prepare and present project status reports to steering and program teams.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure deliverables meet contract requirements.
- Develop and maintain key project management methodology (PMM) deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating as needed.
- Enforce adherence to change management and IT governance processes.
- Create Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for projects in yellow/red status and ensure project benefits are tracked.
- Ensure timely discussion and management of project interdependencies and impacts.
- Facilitate stakeholder interactions and ensure assignment and completion of all deliverables.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 5+ years managing projects with budgets over $20M.
- 5+ years as a Project Manager on IT projects.
- 5+ years of Agile/Scrum experience.
- Experience with Microsoft DevOps (preferred).
- Documented experience managing IT projects in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience working with project managers on technology integration between systems.
- Previous state government experience (highly desired).
- Must provide three professional references for IT project management experience.
Other Requirements:
- Must be available onsite from Day 1.
- Michigan residency required (address will be verified).
