Job description

One full-time (0.90 FTE, 36 hrs/week) position | Usually Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, various evening shifts (5:00 pm - 8:00 pm) required per month | Learning Community of South Omaha (24th & M) | 
Job DutiesThe Early Childhood Education Coach is responsible for supporting the on-site child learning team to ensure integrity and quality within early childhood classrooms. The ECE Coach has an up-to-date knowledge of best practices in early childhood education, is familiar with standards put forth by the Nebraska Department of Education, and works with staff and management to implement best practices in early childhood classrooms at the Learning Community Center of South Omaha (LCCSO). Additionally, the ECE Coach will assist with training and coaching for some community childcare providers.
  • Ensures the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets children’s individual needs.
  • Supports and monitors effective classroom environments, teacher-child interactions, and curriculum implementation.
  • Engages in coaching and reflective practices with classroom teachers to ensure high-quality program practices. Observes in classrooms, engages in collaborative problem-solving and planning, implements agreed-upon strategies, and reflects on progress made to determine next steps in the action plan. Supports staff in the implementation of quality early childhood practice based on Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines.
  • Builds relationships with classroom teachers based on mutual respect and effective communication.  
  • Assist the Program Manager in the preparation of program performance reports.
  • Responsible for reporting of Child Learning Team progress via observation tools.
  • Communicates both verbally and in writing with the Program Manager about any issues in the classroom; makes recommendations for change.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required.
  • Three years of direct experience in the early childhood education field.
  • Certified/reliable in CLASS observation tools & ITERS/ECERS, (TPOT/TPITOS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, principles, and best practices of early childhood education.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish required.
  • Experience as an early childhood coach preferred.
  • Ability to support a wide range of constituents and diverse populations, including diverse socio-economic, ability/disability, racial, ethnic, age, gender, family make-up, and education levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
