The Medical Unit at St. Catherine Hospital specializes in general medical and surgical patient care and is a 48-bed unit. We treat adult patients that are 16 years and older needing medical or surgical intervention with no overflow from other departments. We are a desirable department because we value teamwork and collaboration. Patient safety and experience is a priority as well as employee job satisfaction. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for:

• Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
• Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
• Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified nursing candidates will need the following:

Education Requirements

• Associates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
• Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs

Experience Requirements

• One year recent RN experience
• Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty

Licenses/Certification Requirements

• Active and unencumbered RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
• BLS from AHA

Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

St. Catherine Hospital, located in Garden City, Kansas, was founded by two pioneering physicians and the Dominican Sisters. They created and maintained the spirit that has enabled St. Catherine Hospital employees to develop a thriving health care facility unlike any other in southwest Kansas. Residents of Garden City enjoy life in a relaxed, small-town (population approx. 30,000) with a zoo, several parks, golf courses, modern shopping and more.
