Location: Fort Meade, MD

Position Summary

LAUKOA is seeking a qualified Grounds Maintenance Laborer to support facilities operations at Fort Meade, Maryland. This position performs routine grounds maintenance, landscaping, and exterior upkeep duties to help maintain safe, clean, and professional Government facilities. The selected candidate will support daily grounds operations while complying with contract requirements, applicable safety procedures, and environmental standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance, landscaping, and exterior facility support tasks.
  • Mow, trim, edge, weed, rake, seed, mulch, and maintain turf, landscaped areas, sidewalks, roadsides, and facility grounds.
  • Remove leaves, branches, litter, debris, and other materials from assigned areas.
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, hand tools, and other landscaping equipment.
  • Assist with planting, pruning, watering, and general care of grass, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas.
  • Support snow and ice removal activities, including shoveling, salting, and clearing walkways, entrances, and other assigned areas.
  • Report grounds, irrigation, drainage, safety, or maintenance deficiencies to supervision.
  • Respond to assigned work orders and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Comply with all environmental, safety, security, and contract requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar outdoor maintenance work preferred.
  • Experience operating common grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical labor in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of basic grounds maintenance and landscaping practices.
  • Ability to safely operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, hand tools, and related grounds equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work orders, schedules, and safety procedures.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to receive work assignments and complete required documentation preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.

Security Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, debris, and equipment consistent with the duties of the position.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, shovel, rake, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate grounds equipment safely for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding grounds maintenance activities.

Wage Rate

  • Between $50.00- $60.00 per hour (included is $5.09 for Health & Welfare)
