Job description

Scope of Job

This purpose of this position is to provide a development opportunity for Bankers new to Commercial, Agricultural, and Construction Lending. This position may also provide an opportunity for experienced lenders managing a smaller or less complex loan portfolio.

Accountable for the management of outstanding credit relationships with existing loan customers of the Bank; and to proactively seek out and establish new borrowing relationships. Work to identify and align new and existing loan customers with additional Enterprise products and services. Responsible to perform all related work responsibilities consistent with the Loan Policy, procedures, and compliance requirements of the Bank.


Primary Duties

Accountable for the management of a funded loan portfolio size between $5,000,000 and $20,000,000; comprised of less complex credits and Commercial, Agriculture, or Construction loans.

Responsible to handle all aspects of outstanding Business, Construction, and Agricultural credits for existing loan customers. Includes: monitoring of customer financial strength and performance through research, analysis, and inspection.

Gather, prepare, and analyze supporting financial and credit documentation as required by Bank Policy and procedures. Responsible for the timely receipt of financial statements, tax returns, and fulfillment of tickler items.

Responsible for the proper development and execution of required loan and collateral documentation according to loan type and structure. Accountable to close and document funding instructions for new and renewed loan transactions.

Responsible to review and decision overdraft payments for existing customers. Accountable for the loan payment performance and collection activities for outstanding credit of existing customers.

Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to retain existing customers; actively prospect and develop new lending relationships. Align borrowers with other Business and Consumer Banking products and services.

Proactively prospect and refer other Trust, Brokerage, and Insurance products and services to new and existing Loan customers.

Work with support resources including the Credit Analyst Team, Business Banking Assistant, and Credit Lending Officer to structure, analyze, and document loan packages and credit recommendations.

Actively gather and apply information related to the current economic environment including farming, ranching, commodity prices, and business community; incorporating that knowledge into the underwriting process.


Secondary Duties

Act in a leadership capacity, providing relevant expertise and counsel; actively supporting work and employee development activities of the Bank.

Work as a team with departmental counterparts on planning and implementing assigned projects and products.

Participate on various committees and project teams as deemed appropriate by management.

Attend, actively participate in organization, job specific training offered, and Quality Service programs.

Adhere to all applicable Policies and Procedures of BankWest organization.

Community involvement is strongly encouraged.

Requirements

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Applicable experience and/or related certifications may be considered in lieu of degree.


Experience: Bank trainee or intern experience.

2 years' experience in related field.

Work experience or family background in Agriculture, Ranching, or Small Business.


Knowledge and Special Skills

Excellent credit/financial analytical skills.

Ability to work dependently and/or independently, under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust work schedules as needed to complete job responsibilities.

Ability to organize and handle multiple responsibilities while delivering quality external and/or internal Customer Service.

Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with external and/or internal customers.

Knowledge or ability to learn regulatory requirements pertinent to performance of specified duties in job description.

Knowledge of banking terminology and procedures.

Ability to skillfully use a variety of application software, learn computer programs, and comprehend the program output.

Adhere to Federal Privacy Standards in addition to following BankWest requirements for electronic communication and Social Engineering standards.
