Summary:
Perform precision TIG welding on aircraft engine components and fabricated metal parts in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to produce clean, high-quality welds on a variety of materials and thicknesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform TIG (GTAW) welding operations on aerospace engine components, assemblies, and fabricated metal parts and castings while maintaining strict quality and workmanship standards.
  • Ability to pass welding certification testing for aluminum TIG welding in accordance with industry standards.
  • Join, fabricate, modify, and repair metal components using TIG welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Fabricate components using torch brazing.
  • Cut and weld steel tools and fixtures as needed to support production using oxyacetylene and stick (SMAW) welding
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, drawings, and specifications to ensure welds meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Inspect completed welds for compliance with company, and industry, standards and dimensional requirements.
  • Set up and maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Work within a structured training and learning environment to develop advanced welding skills and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • or at least four years related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Problem Solving
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mathematical
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and apply precision measurements

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Ability to traverse shop floor and work in a loud environment
  • Ability to move engine components and test equipment weighing up to 75 pounds during the course of an engine examination
  • Ability to position self to install engine in test cell or conduct engine examinations
  • TESTING REQUIRED; All candidates both internally and externally will be required to qualify before becoming eligible to be assigned to the PTM Welder position. Testing will be an eye test and welding demonstration. The welding demonstration will be required to pass NDT testing such as x-ray.
