Position Summary

A leading Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor specializing in utility-scale renewable energy and electrical infrastructure is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the successful execution of large-scale construction projects throughout the Southeast.

This leadership role is responsible for directing all construction operations from pre-construction through project completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and applicable codes and regulations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with a strong background managing commercial, industrial, renewable energy, or heavy civil projects and possesses the required North Carolina contractor licenses.

Required Licenses

Candidates must possess and maintain the following active North Carolina licenses:

  • North Carolina Building General Contractor License

These licenses are mandatory requirements for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all construction activities for utility-scale renewable energy, battery energy storage (BESS), substation, transmission, distribution, and other industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Engineers, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely while maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and client requirements.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, manpower, procurement coordination, and overall project performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project controls, and executive leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and change orders to ensure compliance and constructability.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate inspections, permitting activities, and regulatory compliance throughout project execution.
  • Conduct routine site visits to evaluate progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead meetings with clients, utilities, engineering teams, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop recovery plans when schedule, cost, or resource challenges arise.
  • Ensure proper project documentation, reporting, forecasting, and closeout activities.
  • Mentor and develop project management and field leadership personnel.
  • Support business development and preconstruction efforts by providing construction expertise during project planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive construction management experience on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or renewable energy projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing multiple large-scale construction projects simultaneously.
  • Proven experience delivering projects exceeding $20 million in construction value.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, budgeting, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Experience managing EPC projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively to active project sites.
