Job description

Title: Maintenance Technician Level II
Location: South Hill, VA (On-site)
Compensation: $25 - $27 per hour

THE POSITION: Maintenance Technician Level II
Maintenance Technician II independently performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on production and facility equipment. This role requires strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform advanced preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sewing machines and hydraulic systems
  • Repair and maintain machinery such as:
    • Punch machines, saws, drill stations, sewing equipment, cutting machines and sealing machines.
  • Service air compressors and HVAC systems
  • Read and interpret:
    • Blueprints
    • Electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement solutions
  • Ensure equipment meets quality and safety standards
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions immediately. Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Perform facility maintenance (plumbing, electrical, structural repairs)
  • Train and assist Technician I employees
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities
  • Train subordinate employees on job skills and Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide training to other technicians in various disciplines as needed.
  • Maintain tools and spare parts available.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Complete all Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on or before scheduled deadlines.
  • Regularly perform 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) in your work area.
  • Support all manufacturing sites.
  • Always wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Communicate constantly with supervisor regarding issues that may come up at work.
  • Communicate any problems which arise to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-4+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing
  • 1-3 years of Maintenance technician I within organization preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of:
    • Electrical systems
    • PLC basics
    • Sewing equipment
    • Pneumatic equipment
    • Mechanical equipment
    • OSHA standards
  • Experience operating Forklift
  • Experience operating Scissor lift
  • Experience operating Wave lift
  • English language skills are required, Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Strong written, interpersonal, communication (bilingual) and organizational skills.
  • Detailed and results oriented.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or extended/Saturday hours depending on demands.
  • Ability to climb and move around machinery.
  • Ability to kneel, stand or bend and be able to lift 50+ pounds. Work in a safe manner especially when lifting.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Must be honest, have a positive attitude, be respectful, dependable, have a good attitude and a proven record of reliability (2+ years at previous jobs).
  • Ability to understand written work direction.
