Job description

Job Title: Pharmacist
Specialty: Outpatient/Ambulatory Care & Community Health Pharmacy
Place of Work (City/State): Tsaile, Arizona (Navajo Nation, Navajo Area IHS)
Site: Tsaile Health Center (Chinle Service Unit)
Location: PO Box C21, Navajo Route 64 & 12, Tsaile, AZ 86556
Duration: 1 year contract with possibility of 2 more years
Shift Schedule: 8 hours/day
Credentialing/Onboarding Time: 6-8 weeks
License: Current, valid, unrestricted pharmacist license in any state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory
Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - required
Education: Pharmacy degree (Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent); board certification required.
Experience Needed: Minimum 36 months (3 years) of pharmacist experience, including at least 12 months in the specialty required for the position
Special Skills Needed:
  • Proficiency with IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Basic computer/IT skills
  • English language proficiency (read/write/speak) sufficient for patient and staff communication
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness/sensitivity toward American Indian and Alaska Native (Navajo) practices
  • Ability to work in a rural, resource-limited setting
Responsibilities:
  • Provide outpatient and community health pharmacy services in accordance with IHS, Joint Commission, and CMS standards
  • Document all patient care activities completely, accurately, and timely in the EHR
  • Comply with patient safety, infection control, and facility safety reporting requirements
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and credentialing throughout performance
  • Participate in departmental peer review per Joint Commission standards
  • Maintain professional conduct and ensure continuity of patient care (including coverage during absences)
  • Safeguard PHI in compliance with HIPAA, the Privacy Act, and the Business Associate Agreement
  • Wear Government-issued ID badge at all times while performing services
