Unit Overview:

5G/H is a42 bedtelemetry unit specializing in complex patients with multiple co-morbidities, palliative care, colorectal surgeries with progressive ERAS protocols, and MDRO patients. The patient population is transferred from ICU,EDand PACU.

Shift:Full-time, Nights

Job Description:

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as awholepersonand the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

  • Nursingpractices are based on evidence and currentresearchas well as hospital and department policies andprocedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.

  • Clinical decision-making incorporates all fourphases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines.

  • The Registered Nurse is anexemplarfor compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting anenvironment focused on healing and wellness.

  • As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/hertime (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provisionof nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities;provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning asapplicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.

  • Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and musthave achieved the degree within 5 years.

  • BasicLifeSupport- Applicants will have30 daysfrom their hired date to provide completion of this certification if theydon'thave it already.

  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
