Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Mechanical Cost Consultant as a subject matter expert in the field of Mechanical Estimating, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Mechanical Utilities across major projects and programs. This role combines technical excellence with leadership, business development, and team engagement. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality cost consulting services throughout the project lifecycle and play a key role in growing the PCC business unit across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Consulting & Quantity Surveying

  • Deliver comprehensive cost planning and management services from inception through design, construction, and operations.
  • Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and life cycle costing.
  • Conduct value analysis, value engineering, and risk and contingency analysis.
  • Review contractor pricing, perform cost reconciliation and negotiation.
  • Re-measure quantities from drawings and site inspections for cost control and payment certification.
  • Prepare monthly progress payment certificates and verify contract price adjustments.
  • Evaluate compensation events and claims, and provide financial recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate cost forecasts and financial reports.

Bid & Contract Administration

  • Prepare provisional Bills of Quantities and assist in preparing RFP documentation.
  • Price RFP using market-related unit rates and support tender adjudication.
  • Conduct RFP alignment assessments, bid evaluation and sensitivity analyses.
  • Finalize contract documents and support contract close-out reporting.
  • Administer contracts, ensuring compliance, performance, and resolution of changes.

Project & Business Management

  • Lead project teams and manage internal project budgets and plans.
  • Manage workloads across multiple projects.
  • Support proposal development and bid writing for new work and change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in ISO audits.

Leadership & Business Development

  • Provide subject matter expertise for Mechanical Estimating within the PCC business and support regional growth.
  • Act as the interface with clients, fostering long-term relationships.
  • Identify and convert business development opportunities into successful commissions.
  • Support marketing, PR, and client engagement to raise AECOM's profile.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and maintain systems, procedures, and policies for optimal team performance.

 Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide clear, actionable advice to clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Manage relationships with clients, consultants, and project teams.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Certifications:

  • EIT or PE license.
  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), MRICS, PMP, or equivalent.

Skills & Experience

  • Field experience as a project engineer or as a contractor
  • Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets, data analysis and cost management tools.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and teams.
  • Experience in mentoring and team development.
  • Familiarity with contract law, procurement processes, and construction documentation.
  • Data Center experience an advantage
