Senior Accountant Classification: Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: Engagement Managers and Partners Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in tax preparation, tax compliance, and client accounting services. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with public accounting experience who is capable of preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, supervising staff accountants, and managing multiple client engagements with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will possess solid technical tax knowledge, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and firm leadership. This role is primarily focused on tax preparation, tax compliance, and client service within a public accounting environment. Candidates should have substantial experience preparing business and individual tax returns and working within a public accounting environment. Essential Responsibilities • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and other entities. • Manage and perform tax engagements with minimal supervision. • Research and apply relevant tax laws, regulations, and IRC provisions. • Supervise, train, and review the work of staff accountants. • Identify and resolve tax and accounting issues and communicate findings to engagement managers or partners. • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive and professional service. • Utilize firm technology and tax software efficiently and accurately. • Assist with tax planning and consulting projects as needed. • Ensure compliance with firm policies, procedures, and professional standards. • Accurately enter time and manage assignments within the firm’s time and billing systems. Additional Responsibilities • Assist engagement managers and partners with special projects and other duties as assigned. • Participate in continuing professional education and professional development activities. Qualifications & Experience • Minimum of 3+ years of public accounting experience with tax preparation responsibilities. • Experience preparing individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary tax returns preferred. • Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations and compliance requirements. • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff is preferred. • CPA license or CPA-track candidates are a plus. Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. • Completion of at least 30 credit hours in accounting coursework required. Working Conditions • Work performed in the firm’s office and at client locations as needed. • Moderate overtime may be required during peak tax seasons. • Occasional local travel may be required.
