Job Description
Job Description
Robotics Controls Integration Engineer (ABB/Beckhoff) A day in this role

You walk onto the manufacturing floor with a laptop and a plan. By mid-morning, youโ€™ve refined ABB RAPID routines to optimize cycle time, synchronized handshakes between the robot cell and a Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 PLC, and verified that EtherCAT devices are healthy and correctly mapped. After lunch, you commission a new sensor array, validate interlocks and fault recovery logic, and drive the cell through production tests. Before the day ends, youโ€™ve documented a change, pushed it to production, and troubleshot an edge case on the floorโ€”all hands-on.

What you'll do
  • Program, test, and commission ABB industrial robots using RAPID.
  • Develop and debug Beckhoff PLC applications in TwinCAT 3 (primarily Structured Text).
  • Integrate robots, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and related industrial equipment into robust automation cells.
  • Configure, diagnose, and resolve EtherCAT network issues.
  • Own full project execution from development through production commissioning on the manufacturing floor.
  • Author reliable automation sequences with proper interlocks, fault handling, and recovery logic.
  • Read electrical schematics to troubleshoot and repair industrial controls.
Who this role is for

This is a hands-on robotics and controls engineering position. If most of your background is in project management or electrical design alone, this role is not the right fit. Weโ€™re looking for an engineer eager to work directly with equipment on the floor and see systems through to production.

Must-have experience
  • ABB robot programming and commissioning.
  • Strong ABB RAPID skills.
  • Beckhoff controls with TwinCAT 3.
  • PLC programming with emphasis on Structured Text.
  • EtherCAT configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Integration of robots, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and industrial devices.
  • On-floor commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Electrical schematic reading and industrial controls troubleshooting.
  • Deep understanding of sequencing, interlocks, faults, and recovery.
  • End-to-end delivery from development to production commissioning.
Preferred experience
  • ABB RobotStudio and ABB SafeMove.
  • Beckhoff TwinSAFE; Beckhoff servo and motion control.
  • CNC machine-tool integration or robotic machine tending.
  • Machine vision (Cognex, Keyence, ABB Vision, or similar).
  • Industrial communications: OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, MQTT.
  • General-purpose programming (Python, C#, C++).
  • Automated pallet and tool handling, CMMs, and inspection systems.
  • Multi-robot or multi-machine cells.
  • Digital twin or offline simulation.
Core proficiencies
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming
  • Industrial and manufacturing engineering fundamentals
  • Industrial robot programming
  • Troubleshooting industrial automation equipment
  • Machine vision programming
  • Electrical/electronic systems
  • Industrial electrical systems and experience
  • Electrical schematic reading
Tools & technologies you'll use
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (Beckhoff)
  • Vision systems
  • Servo motors
  • ABB industrial robots
