Job description

About MIAA Beauty Institute

MIAA Beauty Institute is a growing private career school licensed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, offering programs in cosmetology, esthetics, nails, and lashes. We're small, ambitious, and building something real — and we're looking for the kind of person who wants to grow with us.

What you'll do

You'll lead our lash extension program — teaching the classroom theory, supervising the practical work, and preparing students to deliver professional, beautiful lash services that meet Maryland health and safety standards.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for:

  • Teaching the lash extension curriculum — both classroom theory and hands-on practical training
  • Supervising students on the student clinic floor during lash services
  • Documenting student attendance, clock hours, and skill progression accurately
  • Coaching students on technique, sanitation, retention, mapping, and client experience
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, professional classroom and clinic environment
  • Partnering with the Director of Education on curriculum delivery and program quality
  • Supporting students preparing for licensing and career readiness
  • Modeling the professionalism we want our graduates to take into the industry

What we're looking for

This role is best suited for a working professional who loves the craft AND loves teaching it. We want someone whose students leave class wanting to be like them.

Required:

  • Active Maryland Cosmetology OR Esthetician license in good standing
  • 2+ years of professional lash extension experience (classic, hybrid, and volume techniques)
  • Strong working knowledge of the Maryland Board of Cosmetologists sanitation and infection control standards
  • Confident classroom presence — comfortable teaching theory, demonstrating technique, and giving feedback
  • Reliable evening and weekend availability
  • Professional, warm, and patient with students at different skill levels

Strong plus:

  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience (formal or informal — leading a continuing education class counts)
  • Experience with multiple lash brands and styles
  • Background in esthetics or facial services beyond lashes
  • Comfort with documentation, attendance tracking, and student progress reporting
