Job description

Job Description Summary
Performs professional accounting work including compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data. Requires a strong analytical mindset, and a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, principles and advanced proficiency in Excel. This role includes Full cycle accounting close out, ledgers and preparation of journal entries, preparation of trial balance and financial statements, allowance calculation, , loan accounting, General Ledger reconciliation, among other tasks as needed. Be comfortable working with several systems simultaneously. You will work cross functionally within a highly detail-oriented environment. The Senior Accountant is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Work within established systems to deliver prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control.
  • Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently, taking ownership of the accounting process, including setting up reconciliations, ad hoc reporting and working with cross functional teams to gather data and clear any variances.
  • Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
  • Support full accounting cycle close out processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure all loan data is reconciled and accurate during close out times.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Delinquency reporting.
  • Work closely with departments across the company to ensure loan allowance calculation is prepared and reported accurately.
  • Prepare quarterly Loan Allowance memos.
  • Work closely with internal IT team for continuous report enhancements and updates.
  • Communicate and follow up on outstanding issues and ensure they're resolved timely.
  • Develop and Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices through ongoing education, conferences, and reading specialist media.

Skills:
  • Understanding Full Cycle Accounting Close Out.
  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls. Strong problem-solving skills, research and resolutions skills, data analysis. Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Detail oriented, with strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and interact with cross functional teams in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on analyzing data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
  • Independently supports business processes with comprehensive understanding and effective use of standard office equipment and standard software packages, while also providing guidance and training to others.
  • Uses a comprehensive understanding of numerical concepts to perform mathematical operations such as report analysis independently while providing guidance and training to others.
