Summary:

Responsible for using creative abilities to offer professional interior design recommendations to the client, meeting a predetermined budget by performing a set of duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to, the following essential functions:

• Utilizes current line-up of furniture and accessories in order to showcase them in various floor plan layouts, according to the client's specifications and desires
• Offers professional suggestions on color schemes, and finishes, to compliment accessories
• Responsible for adapting to a client's taste and habits to meet strict budget requirements
• Uses artistic and creative talent to help influence a pre-established good business sense
• Examines material and product samples before presenting a detailed plan and sketch to clients
• Studies, researches, and masters current color trends, furniture styles, and design techniques
• Networks within the community, resulting in new business opportunities
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients
• Ability to formulate environmental plan to be practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes, such as raising productivity or selling merchandise
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory software, internet software, human resource systems, and order processing systems.
