Job description

This Landscape Designer position offers an exciting opportunity to design, present, and oversee the development of luxury residential landscape projects. You’ll have the opportunity to manage the entire project lifecycle—from building relationships and conceptualizing artistic outdoor spaces to ensuring successful installation alongside the construction team.

Based in Clinton Township, MI, this premier landscape design, build, and maintenance firm has been transforming residential properties across Metro Detroit since 1978. Backed by a nationwide family of companies, the organization provides a highly stable, collaborative, and respected environment where professionals can focus on superior workmanship and creating high-end outdoor living spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design comprehensive landscape plans and 3D renderings that meet client needs while artistically enhancing their property.
  • Manage the full sales cycle for new and existing clients, which includes estimating projects, writing contracts, managing change orders, and collecting payments.
  • Calculate accurate project take-offs and generate estimates utilizing QuickBooks software.
  • Oversee sold projects by directing site preparation, resolving drainage or elevation issues, and seamlessly guiding clients through any on-site adjustments.
  • Evaluate and job cost projects based on time sheets provided by the landscape installation crews.
  • Advise clients on the pros and cons of new and existing hardscape products, while applying a working knowledge of landscape planting, hardscaping, and holiday lighting techniques.

Requirements

  • A degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, or a related field, coupled with proven sales experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD-based programs (such as Dynascape), Sketchup, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Vray.
  • Deep understanding of landscape design principles, tools, and construction techniques to produce precision plans and prints.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to build lasting relationships and effectively delegate responsibilities to the installation team.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting base salary of $70,000 + commission (commensurate with experience)
  • Company vehicle provided during work hours
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Excellent opportunities for professional advancement within an established, respected firm
