As of Jun 13, 2026, the average yearly pay for commission full stack developer in Pennsylvania is $116,941.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $97,000.00 and $135,100.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How does compensation on a commission basis affect the workflow and priorities of a Full Stack Developer?

Working as a Commission Full Stack Developer typically means your earnings are tied directly to project completion or specific deliverables, rather than a fixed salary. This compensation structure encourages you to be highly efficient, prioritize projects with the greatest impact, and collaborate closely with clients or sales teams to understand their needs and timelines. While this can offer greater earning potential and flexibility, it also requires strong time management and self-motivation to consistently secure and deliver on new projects. You may need to balance multiple clients simultaneously and proactively communicate progress to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

Are full stack devs still in demand?

Full stack developers remain in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development, with skills in frameworks like React, Angular, and Node.js. The role is essential in many industries, and demand is expected to grow as companies prioritize agile, full-spectrum development teams.

Will AI replace full stack dev?

AI is unlikely to fully replace full stack developers, as their role requires complex problem-solving, creativity, and understanding of user needs that AI cannot replicate. Instead, AI tools can assist developers by automating repetitive tasks and enhancing productivity, allowing them to focus on more strategic aspects of development. Full stack developers who adapt by learning new technologies and integrating AI tools will remain valuable in the evolving tech landscape.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Commission Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Commission Full Stack Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, or Java) and a solid understanding of web application architecture. Familiarity with frameworks (like React, Node.js, or Django), version control systems (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms is often required, along with a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. Strong problem-solving skills, effective time management, and clear client communication are essential soft skills in a commission-based, project-driven environment. These skills ensure you can deliver high-quality, full-cycle software solutions while meeting client expectations and deadlines.

How much does a Full Stack Developer charge per hour?

Full Stack Developers typically charge between $50 and $150 per hour, depending on experience, location, and project complexity. Freelancers with specialized skills or certifications may charge higher rates, especially for complex or long-term projects.

Is full stack worth it in 2026?

Full stack developers remain in high demand in 2026 due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development. Strong skills in frameworks like React or Angular, along with knowledge of server-side technologies, can lead to competitive salaries and job stability. Continuous learning and adapting to new tools are essential for long-term success in this role.

What is a Commission Full Stack Developer?

A Commission Full Stack Developer is a software engineer who works on both the front-end and back-end aspects of web or application development, and is compensated primarily through commissions or performance-based payments rather than a fixed salary. They may work as freelancers or contractors, often earning a percentage of sales, project milestones, or successful deployments. This role requires proficiency in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and the ability to manage entire projects from concept to completion. Commission-based arrangements can offer flexible work and higher earning potential, but may also involve variable income and less job stability. Clients hire Commission Full Stack Developers for their technical versatility and results-driven approach.

Job description

About Burro

Burro is the leading robotics company in the world by number of robots working outdoors in the field with real customers. Our mission is to free people from tedious work and solve the critical labor shortages faced by farmers and others that work outdoors.

To accomplish our mission, we need a world-class, diverse team where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas. With this in mind, we strive to create a work environment where every employee can be themselves and express their perspective – this enables us to deliver the most creative and innovative solutions to problems our customers face.

Headquartered in Philadelphia with an office in central California, and backed by top Agtech and autonomy investors, including S2G, Catalyst, Translink, Cibus, FPrime, Toyota Ventures, FFVC, Xplorer, and Radicle, Burro was created to solve the labor shortages facing farmers using robotics.

Burros can be described as Disney's Wall-E for agriculture and work outdoors, in a 1.0 format.  They function, today, as computer vision based autonomous ground vehicles for carrying, towing, and scouting, and are designed to lay the base for the fully autonomous future of work outdoors.  We have a growing triple digit fleet deployed in paid commercial use within vineyards, nurseries, berries, and beyond, and demand for our product is accelerating, so we are growing our team.

The Role

At Burro, we are building the mission control for the future of autonomous work. BOSS Web serves as our universal fleet management platform, providing users with total visibility and control over hundreds of robots in real time from any device. We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer to join our Applications and User Experience team to drive the evolution of this interface, acting as a critical bridge between high-frequency robot telemetry and the human operator. You will collaborate with our engineers and designers to build high-performance, map-driven tools that transform massive geospatial datasets into intuitive, actionable insights for our customers.

Working as part of a growing team, you will ensure that as our fleets scale across vast agricultural and industrial environments, our software remains reliable and performant. While your primary focus is the development of BOSS Web, you will also provide periodic UI development support to the on-robot software team. You will be responsible for the technical implementation of new features and complex frontend state required for smooth real-time data rendering.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain interactive mapping workflows: drawing/editing paths, points, polygons, and robot routes.

  • Implement custom map behaviors (snapping, intersections, validation, overlays, geofencing) using GeoJSON and Turf-style geometry utilities.

  • Integrate and develop APIs consumed by React Query, handling caching, mutation workflows, and error UX.

  • Maintain complex UI flows with state split across Redux Toolkit, Zustand, and React Context.

  • Deliver polished UX using Tailwind + Radix/shadcn UI components, including forms and dialogs.

  • Instrument features with Sentry and PostHog, and support i18n across locales.

  • Keep performance solid with large geospatial datasets and frequent map updates.

Required Experience:
  • Expertise in TypeScript and React building complex, data-heavy single-page apps.

  • Deep hands-on map and geographic work: Mapbox GL or Leaflet, GeoJSON, and geospatial math.

  • Mastery of state management in production apps using Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or similar.

  • Proven ability to reason about UX and performance for data-dense, map-driven tools.

  • Expertise in API integration patterns using React Query or similar caching layers.

  • Proficiency with Vite, Node, modern frontend tooling, and CI/test practices.

  • Solid experience with backend ORM entity modeling and migrations.

  • Practical knowledge of authentication patterns: JWT, API keys, and JWKS/Auth0/OIDC.

  • Experience building reliable services with clear logging and error handling.

Preferred Qualifications
  • SQL/Postgres with geospatial concepts (PostGIS, GeoJSON).

  • REST API design with Swagger/OpenAPI and DTO validation.

  • Experience in Flutter and Dart for cross-platform UI development.

Perks
  • Competitive salary and benefits package (medical/dental/vision/life insurance)
  • Equity

  • 401K Plan

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Paid parental leave
