Commission Fire Cleanup information

What is a commission fire cleanup?

Commission Fire Cleanup jobs involve cleaning, restoring, and repairing properties that have been damaged by fire. Workers in this field assess the extent of the damage, remove debris, clean soot and smoke residue, and may assist in salvaging personal belongings. They often use specialized equipment and follow safety protocols to ensure the environment is safe for future use. These jobs are typically offered by restoration companies and may be paid on a commission basis, depending on the volume or value of cleanup work completed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a commission fire cleanup specialist?

To excel as a Commission Fire Cleanup Specialist, you need knowledge of fire damage restoration, safety protocols, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with specialized cleaning equipment, protective gear, and certifications like IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration are typically required. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and adaptability are important soft skills for efficiently handling challenging cleanup environments. These abilities are essential for restoring properties safely and effectively while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

What are some common challenges faced in a commission fire cleanup role and how can new hires prepare for them?

One of the main challenges in a Commission Fire Cleanup role is working in environments that may be hazardous or emotionally taxing, as fire-damaged sites can contain soot, debris, and sometimes personal losses for property owners. New hires should be prepared for physical labor, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the need to wear protective equipment. Developing strong communication skills is also important, as the role often involves coordinating with team members and interacting with clients who have experienced stressful situations. Staying up to date on best practices in fire remediation and being adaptable to changing conditions on-site will help new hires succeed.

Restoration Pros and our plumbing division, 1-Tom-Plumber, are looking for the right person to represent both companies in the field. This is not a cold-start position. You will be taking over an existing book of business with active accounts and established referral sources already generating revenue.

We specialize in fire and water damage cleanup, mold remediation, and insurance related repairs. Our plumbing division operates under the 1-Tom-Plumber brand and serves both residential and commercial clients across the Acadiana area.

What You Will Be Doing

Your primary focus will be protecting and growing an existing book of business while developing new relationships across a wide range of market segments. This includes property managers, facility managers, insurance agencies, insurance adjusters, hotels, apartment complexes, school districts, restaurants, government agencies, and commercial businesses of all kinds.
You will be the face of both companies in the community. That means networking events, client meetings, referral development, and consistent follow-up with the people who send us work.
  • Taking ownership of existing referral sources and accounts from day one
  • Prospecting and developing new relationships across residential and commercial markets
  • Representing Restoration Pros and 1-Tom-Plumber at networking events and in the field
  • Keeping all activity logged in HubSpot, including calls, meetings, and new contacts
  • Reporting directly to ownership and our General Managers on pipeline, strategies and territory development

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 2 years of proven sales experience in a business development or outside sales role
  • The ability to build relationships that people actually want to maintain. That is what drives repeat business in this market.
  • Someone who can create their own schedule, manage their own pipeline, and hold themselves accountable to results
  • Experience with a CRM. We use HubSpot and we track activity consistently.
  • Professional and personable in any setting, whether that is a homeowner's kitchen or a commercial property manager's office
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $50,000 to $55,000 depending on experience
  • Uncapped commission with real earning potential from day one, thanks to an existing book of business
  • Take-home company vehicle for business use
  • Direct access to ownership with a short chain of command
  • Room to grow with a reputable and local company that has been recognized for its growth
