Job Purpose

EnerSys is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Service Technician III to join our growing Energy Systems team! In this role, you will be a technical expert, providing advanced on-site support to our valued customers. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex equipment and systems, with a focus on ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. As a technical expert and team leader, you will provide comprehensive on-site support for EnerSys Battery and Systems products and services. You will champion health and safety, quality, and standards while mentoring team members. Your leadership will be essential in achieving revenue and margin targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advanced Field Service Expertise:

  • Provide expert-level technical support to customers, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of complex battery equipment and power systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot intricate technical issues, utilizing your in-depth knowledge and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and performance optimization to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventative measures to avoid costly downtime.

Customer Focus:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing timely, efficient, and professional service.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing guidance and recommendations on best practices for equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000 standards.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrate safe work procedures when using hand and power tools.
  • Complete all required safety and compliance training.

Training and Mentorship:

  • Train and mentor junior technicians, sharing your expertise and knowledge to enhance their skills and development.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage small-scale field service projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project specifications.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless project execution.

Administration and Reporting:

  • Meticulously document all service activities, including maintenance records, repair logs, and customer interactions.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze performance data and identify trends to improve service delivery and efficiency.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Technical degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, electronics technology).
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Field Service Technician, demonstrating progressive responsibility and technical expertise in the battery and power systems industry.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of battery technologies, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, and related systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using specialized tools and test equipment.

Other Skills:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
General Job Requirements
  • Must be able and willing to do overnight travel
  • Must be able and willing to operate a forklift.
  • This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company's driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
