Job description

The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC), a publicly owned wastewater treatment facility located in Newark, New Jersey, is currently seeking a High Voltage Electrician. Created in 1902, PVSC is the 5th largest facility of its kind in the United States, directly serving approximately 1.5 million residents in 48 municipalities located in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union Counties. The 140-acre plant is designed to treat an average of 330 million gallons per day (“mgd”) of wastewater with an annual average flow of approximately 241 mgd. Position Summary: The High Voltage Electrician is responsible for the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of electric substations and overhead/underground primary electrical distribution systems used in the treatment of wastewater and the various ancillary and support systems. Will analyze technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to diagnose the cause of malfunctions and then repair electrical equipment.
