The Data Center Operations Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the technology infrastructure that powers patient care, research, and business operations across Cincinnati Children's. This position combines technical operations, infrastructure support, project coordination, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure reliable and secure technology services. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, supporting critical systems, and contributing to initiatives that have a direct impact on the organization's mission.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
  • Perform report processing & distribution for multiple applications.
  • Provide afterhours support for hospital pagers.
  • Complete system tape backup processes & offsite rotations when required.
  • Ensure security processes are followed by anyone that enters the data center.
  • Ensure the work performed in the data center maintains system uptime & the integrity of the facility.
  • Follow established processes to validate the Pharmacy faxes are transmitted or take the proper corrective action.
  • Responsible for all Data Center computer hardware installs & de-installations.
  • Monitor system interfaces & take the proper corrective action following established processes.
  • Monitor the data center environmental infrastructure & work with the building engineers to correct any issues.

Customer Service
  • Ensure functional area provides outstanding end-user support, including ongoing monitoring of Service Level Agreements for incident management and collaboration with other functional areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support.
  • Adhere to and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures.
  • Model outstanding customer services behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers.

Collaboration
  • Working cooperatively with others to achieve group goals; proactively adjusting one's style and efforts to complement those of others on the team; being pleasant, agreeable, and easy to work with; valuing group success as much or more than individual success.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Experience working in enterprise or healthcare IT environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA ITF+, Microsoft Fundamentals, or data center-related certifications.
  • Experience in computer operations, data center operations, technical support, or a related field.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain detailed operational records.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or on-call schedules as required.
