The apprenticeship emphasizes learning and skill development, while the technician role involves executing splicing work in the field.

A cable splicer apprenticeship typically lasts about 3 to 4 years, combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Apprentices learn skills such as cable splicing, safety procedures, and equipment operation during this period, often earning certifications along the way.

How do I become a cable splicer?

To become a cable splicer, you typically need to complete an apprenticeship program that combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training, often lasting 3-4 years. Skills in electrical theory, safety procedures, and the use of specialized tools are essential, and some states or employers may require relevant certifications or licenses.

Is 35 too old for an apprenticeship?

In a Commission Cable Splicing Apprenticeship, age is generally not a barrier; many apprentices start at various ages, and employers often value skills, reliability, and willingness to learn. As long as you meet the program's requirements and can perform physical tasks and work in a team environment, age should not prevent you from pursuing the apprenticeship.

What is the highest paying apprenticeship program?
