Job description

Position Summary
Orlando Health Surgery Department is seeking an accomplished Burn Surgeon to serve as the Medical Director of the Orlando Health Burn Program. This full-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced surgeon with advanced training and expertise in burn surgery who is passionate about clinical excellence, program development and multidisciplinary collaboration.
As Medical Director, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership for an established, ABA verified burn program, guiding its continued growth and advancement as a premier regional and national destination for burn care.
Position Responsibilities:
The Medical Director will oversee the comprehensive management of patients with complex burn injuries across the full continuum of care, including:
  • Directing acute burn resuscitation and critical care management.
  • Providing operative management for major burn injuries.
  • Leading rehabilitation planning and long-term recovery efforts.
  • Utilizing advanced skin coverage and grafting techniques, including state-of-the-art-wound management technologies.
  • Applying reconstructive burn surgery expertise, including scar reconstruction.
  • Partnering with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Leading quality improvement initiatives, clinical innovation and program development.
  • Collaborating with hospital leadership to expand and enhance the burn program while maintaining the highest standards of patient outcomes and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain ABA Verification

Practice Highlights:
  • Established ABA verified program for the last 9 years of continuous verification.
  • Join a collaborative team of 12 trauma surgeons and 5 APP.
  • Monday - Friday schedule with occasional weekend rounding assistance. No overnight responsibilities.
  • Call schedule: 2 weeks per month
  • Dedicated: 16 bed trauma/burn and 16 bed trauma/burn step down unit, dedicated operative team with priority given to burns.
  • Collaborative multidisciplinary environment including experienced APPs, therapist, specialized nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, and hospital leadership committed to exceptional patient care.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including prior experience leading a burn program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery or Plastic Surgery
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited burn fellowship.
  • Fellow of the American Burn Association (FABA)
  • Florida Medical License or ability to obtain one.
