Commission Boxing information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Boxing Commissioner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Boxing Commissioner, you need a solid understanding of boxing regulations, event management, and often a background in sports administration or law. Familiarity with regulatory compliance systems, event licensing platforms, and sometimes certifications in sports management are commonly required. Strong decision-making, integrity, and effective communication are critical soft skills for mediating disputes and ensuring fair play. These skills and qualities are essential to uphold the integrity of the sport, protect athlete welfare, and ensure smooth event operations.

What are some common challenges faced by members of a boxing commission, and how can they be addressed?

Members of a boxing commission often face challenges such as ensuring the safety of athletes, maintaining regulatory compliance, and handling disputes between stakeholders. Balancing fair competition with strict safety standards requires constant vigilance and clear communication among officials, athletes, and promoters. Addressing these challenges typically involves staying updated on evolving regulations, participating in regular training, and fostering collaborative relationships with medical professionals, referees, and other commission members.

What are commission boxing jobs?

Commission boxing jobs refer to positions within a boxing commission, the regulatory body responsible for overseeing professional and amateur boxing events. These roles can include inspectors, officials, judges, referees, and administrators who ensure that matches are conducted safely and fairly, according to established rules and regulations. Boxing commissions also handle licensing, medical requirements, and the resolution of disputes or violations. Working in commission boxing often requires knowledge of the sport, attention to detail, and, in some cases, specific certifications or experience.

How much money do boxing coaches make?

Boxing coaches typically earn between $25,000 and $75,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and the level of athletes they train. Coaches working with professional fighters or in high-profile gyms tend to earn higher salaries, often supplemented by commissions or bonuses. Many coaches also supplement income through private lessons and training camps.

Job description

As a Territory Manager, you will sell boxing and combat-sports equipment and apparel (gloves, headgear, protective gear, apparel, footwear, and accessories) to boxing gyms, MMA gyms, fitness boxing studios, multi-location fight equipment retailers, municipal programs, and military accounts. You will sell primarily to gym owners, coaches, and procurement contacts. This role is heavily weighted toward new business development in Year 1 (75% of revenue from new accounts). You will build your own pipeline through in-person prospecting while also working inbound warm leads from marketing and USA Boxing events. This is a newly created position in an expansion territory, home-based with daily field activity, reporting directly to the CEO. The base salary is $70,000 – $85,000, plus commissions.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• $70,000 – $85,000 base salary, plus residual commissions paid quarterly
• Year 1 OTE: $100,000 – $130,000
• Year 2 OTE: $120,000 – $130,000+
• Monthly vehicle allowance (potential for company vehicle after proven performance)
• Full benefits package
• Laptop, cell phone, and expense account
• 10 vacation days, 5 sick days, 2 personal days, plus public holidays
• Employee recognition and rewards
• Flex hours and home-based work arrangement
• Career path to U.S. National Sales Manager within ~2 years for top performer
THE COMPANY & CULTURE
Our client is a family-owned company with ~25 years in business and the U.S. operating entity of an Australian-headquartered manufacturer. They produce boxing equipment in their own Pakistan facility and import apparel, footwear, and accessories. The company is in a scale-up phase with 25–50% annual revenue growth and is expanding the U.S. field sales team from one rep to five over the next 12–24 months. They have 15 employees globally and 2 in the U.S. today. Clients include USA Boxing (exclusive sponsor for 10 years), multi-location fight retailers, boxing and MMA gyms, municipal programs, and military accounts. Their culture is described as a happy family— one that is passionate, collaborative, customer-focused, dedicated, and hardworking. They are results-driven, take employee feedback seriously, and offer strong growth opportunities in a scale-up environment.
OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY
• Operational base: Atlanta, GA (home-based role — no office presence required)
• Sales territory: Texas (primary focus — Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio) plus Western U.S. coverage (California, Nevada, New Mexico) until additional reps are hired
• Work arrangement: Fully home-based with ~60% of time in the field
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 40–50 hours per week. Occasional evenings and weekends for USA Boxing events and trade shows
• Overnight travel: 10–25% (heavier in early months, approximately one week every 6–8 weeks to Western U.S.; decreases as new reps are added)
EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• 3–10 years of B2B outside/field sales experience with a proven track record in new business development (ideal range 3–7 years)
• Comfortable with face-to-face selling, in-person discovery, and territory ownership
• Genuine passion for boxing, MMA, or combat sports is required — must credibly engage gym owners, fighters, and coaches
• Industry experience is preferred but not required (sporting goods, fitness equipment, combat-sports brands, athletic apparel, or gym equipment backgrounds are relevant)
• Big-box retail sales experience is acceptable — transition to smaller accounts will be supported
• College diploma minimum
• Valid U.S. driver’s licence and personal vehicle required
• Bilingual English/Spanish is an advantage
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• HubSpot CRM experience preferred; comfort with any modern CRM required
• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Google Drive — basic proficiency required

• Mix of transactional and relationship-driven sales
• Sales cycle varies by opportunity type
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

• Represent the company at USA Boxing tournaments and trade shows
OVERNIGHT TRAVEL
• 10–25% (primarily periodic trips to California, Nevada, or New Mexico — one week every 6–8 weeks early on; decreases as territory narrows)
