SRTC is seeking a passionate, skilled educator to launch our brand-new Nail Technician program (CIP 12.0410). This rewarding full-time position begins August 25, 2026, spanning 178 school days through June 2027. In this dynamic one-year program, you'll guide high school students to develop comprehensive nail care expertise while gaining invaluable hands-on experience in professional salon services and client relations.  From mastering manicure and pedicure techniques to creating sophisticated nail art and understanding salon business operations, your students will develop the essential skills needed to excel in the thriving beauty industry and earn their Maine State Board of Cosmetology Nail Technician certification.

As our inaugural Nail Technician instructor, you'll build an exceptional program from the ground up in our modern, fully-equipped salon classroom. You'll create immersive learning experiences that blend technical skill development with professional client service, safety protocols, and business fundamentals. Your students will work with real clients in our student-run salon, developing confidence and competence while building their professional portfolios. You'll create an engaging, dynamic learning environment that sparks creativity and fosters growth, while expertly delivering curriculum aligned with Maine State Board of Cosmetology requirements. Your passion for working with young people, combined with your expertise in nail technology, will position students for exceptional opportunities in this rewarding industrywhether they choose immediate employment, booth rental entrepreneurship, or salon ownership. You'll collaborate with other innovative (including our Cosmetology program) SRTC programs to create interdisciplinary learning experiences while establishing valuable community partnerships that provide students with real-world job shadowing, networking opportunities, and connections to Maine's vibrant beauty industry.

Qualifications:

  • Maine certification (#094 - Nail Technology) or eligible and CHRC (fingerprinting) or eligible
  • Active Maine Nail Technician license in good standing
  • Proven education and/or industry experience in Nail Technology
  • Exceptional organizational skills; ability to equip students with career-advancing skills and knowledge
  • Energetic, positive demeanor with outstanding communication abilities
  • Talent for building meaningful professional relationships with students, staff, and community partners
  • Collaborative team player committed to student success
  • Strong classroom management skills with meticulous record-keeping abilities
