Job description

Description of the role: The Controller at Basney BMW Mazda will be responsible for the company's accounting and financial operations of the dealership, ensuring accurate reporting, and compliance with all regulatory and manufacturer requirements. This roles manages the accounting team, maintains general ledger, and prepares financial statements. Must have an accounting background and be detailed oriented. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all administrative staff
  • Overseeing accounting functions like A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and title work
  • Perform daily reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • Ensure accurate and completion of end of month procedures
  • Submit accurate financial statements to the manufacturers by the 10th of the month
  • Prepare and submit monthly sales tax and tire tax
  • Review and maintain accounting schedules on a monthly basis
  • Develop and implement office policies and procedures
  • Monitor office supplies and inventory
  • Manage office budget and expenses
  • Ensure office equipment is maintained and functional, handle contracts for equipment
  • Handle accounting and financials of several subsidiary companies
  • Prepare and review applications for commercial insurance and benefits
  • Submit and review the accuracy of our 401k plan weekly, handle audit, census, enrollments, distributions, and loans
  • Prepare monthly floor plan report 
  • Prepare sales commissions/chargeback detail reports and bonus checks
  • Stay abreast of tax code revisions and advise dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions
  •  Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records ect.
  • Manage DealerTrack to maximize utilization
