Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field. 24 months or more experience in professional nutritional services, including supervisory experience.
OR Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field. 48 months or more experience in professional nutritional services, including supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Directs, monitors, and evaluates the operation of the nutritional services department and coordinates all
nutritional aspects of the programs.
• Serves as a liaison between the facility and the food service provider.
• Monitors the accuracy of food service-related billing by the contract vendor.
• Supervises professional and support staff in nutritional services, provides administrative guidance, and
evaluates job performance.
• Ensures individuals are provided with a nutritionally adequate diet that complies with the requirements
outlined in the ADMH food service contract and the physician-prescribed dietary regimen.
• Communicates with individuals, facility staff, leadership, etc., so that appropriate information is
disseminated as needed.
• Writes, reviews, and revises nutritional policies and procedures.
• Monitors nutritional program activities, reports, training, etc., for compliance with federal, state, and
departmental regulations and policies.
• Recommends corrective action when necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
• Knowledge of menu planning and methods of food preparation.
• Knowledge of personal and food sanitation principles.
• Knowledge of the Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Standards.
• Knowledge of quality improvement principles and guidelines.
• Ability to supervise the work of others.
• Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and electronically.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work activities.

Necessary Special Requirements
• Must be registered or eligible for registration by the Commission on Registration of the American Dietetic Association. If registered or eligible by or before December 31, 2023, a Bachelor's degree is required. If registered or eligible on or after January 1, 2024, a Master's degree is required.
