  • Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and commercial vehicle safety standards.
  • Experience safely connecting, transporting, positioning, and disconnecting commercial trailers.
  • Ability to complete required vehicle and equipment inspections.
  • Ability to use GPS navigation, mobile applications, and electronic logging devices when required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned routes and schedules.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience transporting dry vans, flatbeds, storage trailers, containers, or similar commercial equipment.
  • Experience working in the trailer rental, leasing, transportation, logistics, or trucking industries.
  • Experience in spotting and positioning trailers at customer facilities and warehouse docks.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices and dispatch or fleet-management systems.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to identify and report equipment-related concerns.
  • Experience operating in commercial yards, warehouses, distribution centers, and industrial facilities.
Responsibilities
  • Safely deliver, retrieve, and relocate commercial trailers and related equipment.
  • Transport equipment between customer locations, Metro Trailer Leasing branches, storage yards, and repair facilities.
  • Connect and disconnect trailers, and verify that all equipment is properly secured before transport.
  • Position and spot trailers safely at customer locations, loading docks, and designated parking areas.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractors, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Verify equipment numbers, delivery locations, pickup instructions, and required documentation.
  • Report damage, mechanical concerns, safety issues, and equipment-condition problems promptly.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and Metro Trailer Leasing safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, fuel usage, inspections, and hours of service.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, branch personnel, customers, and maintenance teams regarding schedules, delays, and equipment issues.
  • Obtain required signatures, photographs, or other documentation confirming equipment delivery and condition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous service during all customer interactions.
  • Assist with general yard activities and equipment inspections when needed.
Skills and Competencies

Successful drivers must demonstrate safe driving practices, sound judgment, and attention to detail. The ability to maneuver and position trailers in customer yards, loading areas, and confined spaces is essential.

Drivers must also be able to manage changing schedules, follow detailed instructions, and communicate clearly with customers and Metro Trailer Leasing personnel. Strong organizational skills are necessary to ensure that the correct equipment is delivered to the correct location and that all required documentation is completed accurately.

Metro Trailer Leasing values drivers who are dependable, professional, safety-conscious, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
