Job description

Unified Commercial Property Management - Senior Property Accountant Position Available

We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to oversee a portfolio of Commercial Properties in Scottsdale, AZ. The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties, spanning both cash-basis and accrual-basis clients. This role owns the accuracy of month-end close, accrual and prepaid schedules, and financial reporting within Yardi Voyager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting for an assigned commercial property portfolio, including general ledger, bank reconciliations, and monthly close, across both cash-basis and accrual-basis properties.
  •  Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with company standards and the appropriate basis of accounting (cash or accrual) for each property.
  • Create, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain and reconcile monthly accrual entries and prepaid expense amortization schedules for accrual-basis properties, ensuring timely and accurate recognition and reversal.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for the property portfolio, including tenant billings, CAM reconciliations, and rent collection reporting.
  • Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and in collaboration with property managers and leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze property performance, identifying variances and trends that require attention or correction.
  • Support property managers in execution of annual CAM/tax reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for assigned properties, responding to internal and external inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Calculate and originate Property Owner monthly distributions.
  • Support external audit, tax preparation, and lender or investor reporting requests as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive property/real estate accounting experience; commercial property experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Yardi Voyager required.
  • Demonstrated experience with accrual-basis accounting, including preparing accruals and managing prepaid expense schedules, as well as cash-basis accounting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working directly with property managers, tenants, and leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and independence
