Job Overview
The Commercial Construction Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of
assigned commercial construction projects by leading and supporting their Superintendents in the field. This role
emphasizes hands-on management of schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client relationships while
empowering Superintendents to execute daily field operations. The Commercial Construction PM provides
oversight, coordination, and problem-solving to keep projects on track, ensuring they are delivered safely, on
time, within budget, and to Citadel's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning & Execution – Manage and oversee all phases of assigned commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance and identify potential risk. Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and
    vendors throughout the project lifecycle. Support Superintendents in field operations to ensure alignment
    with project goals.
  • Budget & Cost Control – Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports. Review and approve subcontractor invoices and change orders. Ensure profitability by controlling costs and
    minimizing risk.
  • Scheduling – Develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules regularly. Work closely with
    Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to achieve milestones and final completion.
  • Subcontractor Management – Negotiate, review, and manage subcontracts for commercial construction
    scopes. Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure quality and timeliness. Document and send out
    updates weekly.
  • Team Leadership & People Management – Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and accountability
    for Superintendents to drive commercial project success. Assess staffing needs and participate in hiring
    decisions when appropriate. Collaborate with team members in other departments as needed to ensure
    partnership and alignment.
  • Client Relationship Management – Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial construction
    clients, ensuring strong communication, responsiveness, and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
    Proactively address client concerns and provide regular project updates.
  • Risk Management – Identify and address project risks specific to commercial construction, including
    delays, cost impacts, and safety concerns, while developing solutions to mitigate them. Represent the
    Citadel brand to ensure that all actions, decisions, and communication reflect the standards of
    professionalism and integrity, leaving a positive and lasting impression on clients, partners, subcontractors,
    and team members.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance – Ensure adherence to Citadel's quality standards, safety regulations, and
    all local, state, and federal codes applicable to commercial construction. Conduct site visits and inspections
    to monitor progress and resolve issues.
  • Reporting – Provide regular project updates and reports to senior leadership highlighting progress,
    challenges, and corrective actions on all assigned commercial construction projects.
