This position can be based in any of our offices: Woburn, Danvers, Gloucester, Plymouth, or Norwood office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The primary objectives of this role are to generate new organic business and maintain a strong renewal book of business for the agency.
  • Monitor renewal retention rates and proactively address potential service or pricing issues to retain clients.
  • Work closely with Commercial Lines Account Managers and agency staff to deliver excellent service and retain risks.
  • Participate in the development and execution of a sales and marketing plan to support agency growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with banking partners to identify cross-selling opportunities and build mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Develop and maintain a prospect list aligned with the agency's targeted personal lines segments.
  • Contact prospects, schedule appointments, and conduct sales presentations to convert prospect opportunities into clients.
  • Coordinate production efforts with marketing, underwriting, and service personnel to ensure efficient and accurate processing of new business.
  • Accurately and thoroughly complete all required documentation prior to submission to carriers or internal marketing teams.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with Account Managers, Operations, and Marketing to provide updates on pipeline activity, account status, and production goals.
  • Arrange payment terms in accordance with agency credit and collection policies and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Cooperate in gathering renewal information and assist with the delivery of renewal proposals and binders in compliance with agency guidelines.
  • Balance production to achieve the desired mix of business and promote carrier products identified as strategic priorities by Salem Five Insurance.
  • Stay current on industry trends, carrier appetites, and sales techniques; leverage agency tools and resources to maintain a competitive position in the marketplace.
  • Attend sales seminars, company meetings, training sessions, and continuing education programs to improve sales performance and remain current on market developments.
  • Maintain all required licenses and any professional designations.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as requested by management.
  • Demonstrate full compliance with banking, insurance, and regulatory requirements as outlined in company policies and procedures.

Sales Management

  • Collaborate closely with the Sales Manager to develop and execute strategies that achieve targeted sales goals.
  • Work closely with Salem Five Bank partners to identify cross-selling opportunities, strengthen relationships, and support shared growth initiatives.
  • Provide input on sales strategies, market trends, and partner feedback to help shape the agency's growth and sales initiatives.
  • Attend and actively participate in regular sales meetings, partner meetings, and agency events.
  • Participate in the development and execution of the agency's sales and marketing plans.

Networking and Relationship Building

  • Actively participate in networking events and community engagements to increase the agency's visibility and generate new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, industry professionals, and banking partners to support long-term growth.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and presentations with carrier representatives and vendors to stay informed on products, trends, and best practices.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Proven history of success in sales, preferably within the commercial insurance industry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to prospect, market, sell, and close new business.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and insurance company partners, with diligence and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Agency Management Systems, insurance rating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and internet-based tools.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Resident Property and Casualty license, valid driver's license.

Salary Range: Commission

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, and performance. This range may be modified in the future.
