Bulldog Roofing is a fast-growing roofing contractor specializing in residential, multifamily, and commercial roofing, gutters, siding, & insulation projects throughout Colorado. We are committed to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and developing leaders within our organization.
We are seeking an experienced commercial engineer to become a key technical resource within our company. This role will work directly with executive leadership, operations, production, and sales teams to support company growth while ensuring projects are estimated accurately and profitably.
Position Summary
The commercial engineer is responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, performing material takeoffs, preparing detailed estimates, supporting job costing initiatives, and assisting production teams throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, proficient in construction plan review, and experienced using Bluebeam, Excel, and roofing CRM systems. Experience within the roofing industry is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
  • Prepare accurate estimates for residential, multifamily, and commercial roofing projects.
  • Read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, bid documents, and construction drawings.
  • Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs.
  • Develop scopes of work and estimate packages.
  • Evaluate project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist in pricing complex roofing systems and specialty projects.

Project Support
  • Collaborate with sales and production teams during project handoff.
  • Assist with project budgeting and cost-control initiatives.
  • Review awarded projects for margin protection opportunities.
  • Support material ordering and procurement planning.
  • Participate in project review meetings and planning sessions.

Insurance & Supplements
  • Review insurance scopes and estimate discrepancies.
  • Support supplement team on complex roofing systems.
  • Assist with documentation and estimate revisions.
  • Support claim-related estimating activities.

Systems & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate project information within AccuLynx CRM.
  • Generate reports and estimating metrics.
  • Maintain estimate templates and pricing databases.
  • Ensure project files remain organized and complete.

Required Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of estimating experience in construction, roofing, restoration, or related industries.
  • Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing project estimates.
  • Strong understanding of project costing and profitability.

Technical Skills
  • Proficient in reading architectural and construction plans.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Experience working within CRM platforms preferably Acculynx or Service Titan.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
