Job Title: Driver Class - A

Cresco Equipment Rentals has a need for a Driver Class - A based at our Oakland, CA location.

Summary

The Driver - Class A safely transports rental equipment while ensuring full compliance with DOT and company standards. This role supports customers by delivering, retrieving, inspecting, and demonstrating equipment, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating feedback. The position also oversees vehicle and equipment condition, tracks inventory, and upholds a professional company image through safe operations and customer-focused service.

Essential Job Functions

  • Operate, load, unload, secure, and transport rental equipment using delivery trucks and trailers.
  • Follow delivery and pickup instructions from Dispatcher and/or Manager.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all company policies as well as Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier safety procedures, laws, policies and rules.
  • Maintain an accurate Record of Duty Status log.
  • Perform daily vehicle operational safety inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Monitor, maintain, and inspect assigned delivery vehicles in accordance with manufacturer, company, and DOT guidelines.
  • Ensure all required registrations, proof of insurance, permits, and inspection reports are current and valid.
  • Deliver and retrieve equipment to and from customer sites.
  • Inspect equipment for damage when picking up equipment from customers.
  • Determine each customer's ability to use the equipment in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrate use of rental equipment to customers.
  • Track and maintain truck equipment inventory.
  • Fuel, maintain, and track usage hours of rental equipment as directed.
  • Promote positive company image through professional conduct and truck appearance.
  • Accurately relay customer concerns and feedback to the appropriate person.
  • Complete all rental and related documents in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.

Other Job Functions

  • Work overtime and on-call as needed within labor law and DOT guidelines.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, safely and in alignment with Peterson's core values.   • Must maintain updated knowledge of applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier regulations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, gas machinery, and diesel machinery preferred.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and completion of certified truck driver training program; and a minimum of three (3) years of directly related commercial driving experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Must maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), current DOT Medical Certificate, and satisfactory driving record.

The pay range for this position is: $32.60 - $37.63 (Starting wage will depend on experience and education. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base pay.)
