The Segment Business Controller - Testing & Calibration serves as a senior finance leader responsible for the financial management, reporting, strategic support, and operational performance of the Testing & Calibration business segments. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role provides financial leadership to segment operations, ensures compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, and partners with business leaders to drive profitability, growth, working capital improvement, and operational excellence. The position serves as the primary finance business partner to segment leadership and is responsible for aligning financial strategy with operational objectives across a multi-site environment. This role plays a critical part in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, acquisition integration, cash flow management, and continuous process improvement, while providing leadership to finance and accounting personnel supporting the segment. The Segment Business Controller is expected to balance strong technical accounting expertise with strategic business acumen to support sustainable growth, margin expansion, financial accountability, and long-term business performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the Testing & Calibration segments.
• Oversee preparation and review of income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and operating metrics.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS where applicable, corporate accounting policies, and reporting requirements.
• Review and approve significant accounting estimates, judgments, and complex transactions.
• Partner with Corporate Accounting on consolidated reporting activities, acquisition accounting, and special projects.
• Monitor financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities affecting segment results.
• Serve as a strategic business partner to segment leadership and provide financial guidance for decision-making.
• Lead analyses related to pricing, profitability, margin improvement, capacity utilization, and operational performance.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
• Develop financial insights related to revenue growth, backlog, margins, productivity, and working capital performance.
• Provide financial support for acquisitions, integrations, restructurings, and other strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and regional leaders to improve business performance and achievement of segment objectives.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and support SOX compliance requirements where applicable.
• Oversee compliance with accounting policies, delegated authorities, and governance standards.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
• Lead initiatives focused on process standardization, automation, and control effectiveness.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting team members supporting the segment.
• Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, customer service, and continuous improvement.
• Promote collaboration among finance, accounting, treasury, FP&A, shared services, and operational teams.
• Establish performance expectations and support employee development and succession planning.
• Drive working capital improvement initiatives involving accounts receivable, inventory, unbilled revenue, and accounts payable.
• Partner with operational and commercial leaders to improve collections, billing timeliness, and cash conversion.
• Monitor cash flow performance and recommend actions to improve liquidity and cash generation.
• Support working capital forecasting and reporting activities.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience overseeing business unit, divisional, or segment financial operations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS, where applicable.
• Experience with internal controls, financial reporting, and resolution of complex accounting issues.
• Experience supporting testing, calibration, engineering services, industrial services, professional services, or other multi-location operating environments preferred.
• Experience supporting acquisitive growth organizations preferred.
• Advanced ERP, financial reporting, business intelligence, and Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong financial modeling and business analysis capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to translate financial information into actionable business recommendations.
• Effective leadership, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
• Ability to influence senior leaders and work effectively across multiple business functions.
• High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.
