Job description

BUILDING ENCLOSURE PROJECT MANAGER (ENGINEER)

Giles Flythe Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Manager (Engineer) to lead building envelope projects across residential and commercial sectors. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, collaborating directly with clients, and contributing to a growing, high-performing team.

THE WORK YOU WILL PERFORM:

  • Perform on-site field investigations of existing buildings or structures, including repair of failing building envelope systems.
  • Design and evaluation of building envelope systems.
  • Develop technical specifications and scope of work for new and repair building envelope projects that comply with industry standards.
  • Solicit and review bids from contractors to perform project work.
  • Review drawings to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Perform construction administration inspections pre-construction, during construction, and post-construction.
  • Management of client services and development including: preparing proposals and cost estimates, communicating project progress, technical discussion of findings and recommendations, and project close-out.
  • Perform property condition assessments of commercial real estate.
  • Perform capital reserve studies for community associations.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate in writing and verbally with clients, including homeowners, property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Routine travel will be expected to project locations within the region.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Minimum five (5) years of related engineering experience. Experience preferably in building envelope consulting.
  • Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain one within six months required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering program. Prefer civil, architectural, construction engineering degrees. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to interact with clients on a daily basis.
  • Proven technical writing and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Team player attitude with the willingness to adapt and learn new responsibilities and tasks.
  • Willing to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, basements and roofs. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and balance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.

The compensation range listed includes a base salary plus quarterly bonuses based on individual performance. The base salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications.
